Departing from Grand Central Airport, New Road, Midrand the flight will take you North East over the Rietvlei Dam (built in 1929 during the great depression). Your pilot will route you over the estate of the Sammy Marks' house who was a great contributor to Pretoria and Johannesburg in the late 1800’s.
Thereafter, there will be a loop over the Premier Diamond Mine to see how big the hole really is! The helicopter will then land on the premises of the mine where you are greeted by the friendly site guide. You will be taken on a tour of the working mine where you will hear the history behind it. One interesting fact to spark your interest - the largest diamond ever to be found in the world was discovered here in 1905, this diamond was a whopping 3106 carrots!
After the 1 and a half hour surface tour you will be taken into the diamond building where you will be shown how they cut, polish and set diamonds. There you will have the option of purchasing your own special diamond from this historic land mark.
The flight will then return you to Grand Central Airport.
